Lunar Eclipse 2021

from $50.00

I didn’t sleep for 24 hours. The shoot began at 11pm on the 18th, I returned home at 5:30am on the 19th; post processing began and wrapped around 7am.

After a long hiatus from shooting nightscape images, I decided to venture out to capture this once in a lifetime event. I stood in awe as the cosmos performed an eclipse that reached near 100% totality. According to NASA, it will remain the longest partial lunar eclipse for 648 years until February 8, 2669 (3 hours, 30 minutes, and 2 seconds). There will be a longer total lunar eclipse next year on November 8, 2022. After analyzing at several potential compositions, thanks to the light of the full moon, I landed on this one. In addition to the eclipse, it features two of my favorite pillars in the park as well as the infamous Camel Rock present in the distance.

All prints come with a protective coating and a 2mm styrene black backing at no additional cost.
